Mr. Abdelfattah Morro presented the fifth episode, "The Crisis of Values and the Threat of Social Peace," on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, where the center's vice president, Salahuddin Al Jurshi, presented a high level of follow-up on the center's official page.
He opened by explaining the difference between values and morals. He explained that the term "values" did not appear in the books of our heritage as Muslims. It is a new term, and some of it is a person who has established valuable and upright, whereas ethics and virtue are mentioned in the Quran for example.
He added that values are a French word translated from "Les Valeurs," meaning "the quantity of the material," and that is why a word of value is repeated to describe issues, principles, and things that have value ends up in the concept that is being used in the field of morality. Moral values are the high principles that human beings and seeking to achieve, and that it is self-worth, and therefore values, total, general and moral, which manage individual behavior.
He added that ethics is a set of abilities that are embedded in the human mind to form his behavior and that morals are also social, while values are individual choices when they become morals, they become social outcomes for saying, Allah is the One and Peace: "Fear God wherever you are, and follow good bad, erase it, and create good people ."
The lecturer said that ethics among Muslims does not set aside an independent flag that allows them to study like the rest of science, but it is a subject in which all those who wrote about Islam are combined into other sciences.
And about how these values affect society and the state, the professor argued that morality is a set of behaviors based on fundamentalist values, which are two aspects: My vision and my last application sees the behavior of people, and man is a social being, has relationships around him that are dictated by his interests and the needs of people, and this human gathering cannot meet if it is based only on interests, because it leads to conflict.
And so the human meeting has to be organized by the collective charter that happens among the members of the community, which makes their behavior not based solely on the submission of an external obstacle (the law is an example) but subject to an internal conscience (the values and morals).
